The Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage, typically taking place during the summer months (June-August), organized by the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. The journey to the cave involves a challenging trek, with the most common route starting from Pahalgam, a picturesque town in the Kashmir Valley

  • Pick-up from Srinagar Airport: Upon your arrival at Srinagar Airport, you will be greeted by your driver or tour representative. They will assist you with your luggage and transfer you comfortably to your hotel in Srinagar.
  • Hotel Check-in: After arrival at your hotel, check-in and take a little time to freshen up and relax after your journey.
  • Evening: In the evening, head to Dal Lake for a relaxing Shikara ride. A Shikara is a traditional wooden boat, and as you gently glide across the serene waters, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking views of the houseboats, mountains, and the floating market on the lake. You can also interact with local vendors selling flowers and produce directly from their boats.
  • Dinner at the hotel: After your Shikara ride, return to your hotel for a delicious dinner. You can try local Kashmiri dishes, including Rogan Josh, Dum Aloo, or Kashmiri Pulao, providing you with an authentic taste of the region.
  • Overnight stay at the hotel.
  • Morning: After an early breakfast at your hotel, you’ll embark on a scenic drive towards Baltal. The route takes you through Sonamarg, a stunning valley known for its lush green meadows and towering snow-capped mountains. The drive will be approximately 3-4 hours, with some breathtaking views along the way.
  • Arrival at Baltal: Upon reaching Baltal, you will check into your self-arranged tents. Baltal is a base camp for the Amarnath Yatra, and you will be staying here overnight before beginning your pilgrimage.
  • Evening: Take the rest of the evening to relax and soak in the tranquil atmosphere of the valley. It’s a peaceful place to prepare yourself mentally for the journey ahead.
  • Overnight Stay: Spend the night in tents at Baltal. The tents are simple and sufficient for pilgrims to rest and rejuvenate.
  • Morning: After breakfast, begin your Amarnath Yatra The trek to Panchterni is about a 5–6-hour journey and can be physically demanding. The trail is surrounded by beautiful mountain landscapes, and you can either trek on foot or hire a pony to assist with the journey.
  • Arrival at Panchterni: After reaching Panchterni, a serene location, you will check into self-arranged tents for the night. Panchterni is an important stop on the route to the Amarnath Cave, and it serves as a rest point for pilgrims before their final leg of the journey.
  • Overnight Stay: Enjoy an overnight stay in tents at Panj Terni. This is a peaceful time to rest and mentally prepare for the visit to the Amarnath Cave the next day.
  • Early Morning: After an early breakfast, set out for the final stretch of the journey to the Amarnath Cave. The trek from Panchterni to the Amarnath Cave takes about 3-4 hours, depending on the pace and the route taken.
  • Darshan at Amarnath Cave: Upon reaching the Amarnath Cave, you will experience the divine darshan of Baba Barfani, the sacred Shiva Lingam, which is naturally formed every year due to the ice formation in the cave. It is a deeply spiritual moment and the highlight of the yatra.
  • Return to Baltal: After the darshan, begin your descent back to Baltal (approximately 4-5 hours). The return journey can be tiring but is often more manageable than the ascent.
  • Overnight Stay: Upon reaching Baltal, settle back into your tents. Take time to reflect on the spiritual experience of the darshan and relax in the serene surroundings.
  • Morning: After breakfast, pack up and meet your driver for the drive back to Srinagar from Baltal. The journey takes around 3-4 hours, offering scenic views along the way.
  • On the way, visit the sacred Kheer Bhawani Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ragnya Devi. The temple is a revered site for Hindus in Kashmir and is known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. The journey from Baltal to Kheer Bhawani takes approximately 2-3 hours.
  • Visit Kheer Bhawani Temple: Spend time exploring the temple and its surroundings. The temple is famous for its holy spring and the unique color changes in the water, which are believed to have spiritual significance.
  • Hotel Stay: Upon arrival in Srinagar, check into your hotel. Rest and freshen up after the long journey. You can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of your hotel while taking in the scenic views of Srinagar.
  • Dinner: Enjoy a delicious dinner at your hotel, with the option of tasting local Kashmiri cuisine.
  • Overnight Stay: Stay the night at your hotel in Srinagar.
  • Morning: After enjoying a delicious breakfast at your hotel in Srinagar.
